Every act of karmastry turns the Great Machine, an invisible cosmic engine made of interlocking Gears of Destiny. Each ethereal gear represents something: a person, a place, even a single moment in time. Together, they keep the universe moving in perfect cause and effect.

Using karmastry means shifting those gears. Push too hard, and you trigger payback, the universe’s cosmic immune system. It can glitch your powers, summon terrifying phantoms, or tear the world around you apart.

Most people follow the rules of the Great Machine. But some don’t.

Escape Artists, one of several powerful karmastry factions, are trained to create flux destinies—pocket realities that exist outside the Great Machine’s reach. Inside a flux destiny, karmastry doesn’t trigger payback. It’s a loophole in reality, and everyone wants in on it.

Flux Destiny takes place on an alternate Earth transformed by karmastry.

The story centers on Fortuna, a nation very much like 1990s America—neon skylines, broadcast idols, karmastry-saturated streets. It’s the beating heart of the modern world, where the impossible isn’t rare. It’s just regulated.

Flux destinies hang like glowing bubbles between skyscrapers. Karma-powered tech—called karma-tech—runs cities, heals the sick, and fuels entertainment.

Hugo Wandschneider and Marco Mendoza grew up believing they could build their own worlds.

Gifted in karmastry, the science of bending reality, Hugo twists gravity and light through his Clockwork gearforms while Marco sketches life into motion with the karma stored in his golden hoops. Together they dream of becoming legends—Great Escape Artists who’ll be loved and idolized by all.

But when a freak incident forces them on the run, they’re caught up in the mystery of the Rabbit’s Foot—a myth Fortuna treats like a joke, until people start dying over it.

With their Clockbot partner Lucky, they’re pulled into a fight that’ll test their powers, their bond, and the limits of destiny itself.
